Even with all the Easter orders on the calendar, Isari was busy setting up for another beautiful wedding this past weekend at Balboa Park. The personal flowers were delivered just on time, right before photos were taken though it turned out to be more of a struggle than anticipated! Our driver dropped them off at the Omni Hotel adjacent to San Diego’s ballpark during one of the first games of the season. Imagine traffic, road blockages and streets filled with excited fans. But our lovely bride looked incredible in her dress and was so happy to have such perfect San Diego weather on her big day. We then set up the tables at Balboa Park’s Japanese Friendship Garden and the themed arrangements matched the setting charmingly with their branches, bamboo accents and pink blooms. Special thanks to Marie for all her help!
We hope everyone enjoyed their Easter Sunday and is spending some time out of doors with this gorgeous spring weather!
Spring Flower Shopping
Our week started early on Monday morning with the usual visit to our favorite wholesale flower market in Carlsbad. Bundled in layers to prepare for traveling between coolers in search for the freshest flowers, we were at the market by 8AM.
This trip was particularly busy for Isari Flower Studio. Consulting vendors on prices of everything we picked up, we were on an extremely careful budget for one project as well as buying for two other events in the week and all floral delivery orders. At the market, Tam selects flowers based on color and texture- finding something that catches her eye, consulting price and then using the selection to pair with other flowers to find an inspired combination. We journey from vendor to vendor, cooler to cooler, sorting through buckets and rows of flowers and often moving carts from side to side to view everything available! All this before we even start our day at the studio, arranging everything needed for the week, putting fresh flowers on the floor and designing all arrangements to go out on delivery.
We left the market with a very full cart, lots of beautiful blooms and everything marked off from our notebook. Truly loved the fresh Spring blossoming branches in all colors, a favorite from this visit!
Poppy Art History
Van Gogh completed seven different paintings featuring the gorgeous poppy flowers. Each painting was created in late spring between the years of 1886 to 1890.
